The Raptors will play host to the Boston Celtics at the Air Canada Centre on Sunday, Dec. 18 (1 p.m.), with the return match at Boston’s TD Garden going Wednesday, Dec. 21 (7:30 p.m.).

First, National Basketball Association executives were allowed to talk to player agents. Next, players were allowed to use team facilities in preparation for the upcoming season. And now, the third sign that the five-month NBA lockout is drawing to an end, actual games are being scheduled.

The Toronto Raptors announced their truncated pre-season schedule on Thursday, and as expected, it is just one set of back-to-back games against a geographically convenient opponent. The Raptors will play host to the Boston Celtics at the Air Canada Centre on Sunday, Dec. 18 (1 p.m.), with the return match at Boston’s TD Garden going Wednesday, Dec. 21 (7:30 p.m.).

This is the same formula the league used in its lockout-shortened 50-game, 1999 season, when each team played two games against the same team in the pre-season. The regular-season schedule could be announced next week. Boston is scheduled to play the Knicks in one of at least three games slated for Christmas Day.

The Raptors will host the Celtics on Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Air Canada Centre, and then visit Boston on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

A tentative labour deal was reached last weekend to end the lockout that began July 1.

The league hopes to open training camps and free agency next Friday, and plans are for a pro-rated 66-game regular season beginning on Christmas Day.

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) – University of Michigan “Fab Five” member and ex-Toronto Raptors player Jimmy King has been arrested on accusations he failed to pay $17,000 in child support and ignored repeated warnings to get back on schedule.

Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office says the 38-year-old King was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of failing to pay support he owed for one child. The charge carries up to four years’ imprisonment but is commonly used to get parents to settle.

Schuette spokesman John Sellek says investigators arrested King at a basketball camp at a northwest Detroit church.

He was in the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac on Wednesday night with a $6,500 bond. The jail couldn’t say if he has a lawyer.

King played for Toronto in 1995-96.
